Forbes Living TV Shares Valuable Summer Travel Tips

This is the time of year for college graduations and the planning of cool summer vacations or internships around the country and world. Forbes Living TV offers some valuable travel tips for everyone.

Never book a trip of any kind without doing some research first. This is especially valuable advice for any student planning a volunteer experience in South Africa. While some wildlife sanctuaries are truly havens for Africa’s iconic animals, other places are stop over points before ending up on farms for foreign hunters.

Airline fees vary from carrier to carrier. Some charge for everything from carry-on luggage and sodas, while others do not. Also, each airline charges their own fees for changing flights, extra baggage and meals. Always double check before making a reservation.

Traveling internationally has its own challenges. The Forbes Living talk show encourages readers to visit the State Department website to learn which countries have restrictions on passport expiry dates. Some of them will not let travelers in if their passports expire three months or six months after arriving home.  It is also a good idea to sign up for notification services from the State Department before leaving in case of emergencies back home or abroad.

Be prepared before buying an airline ticket or making summer travel plans.

Forbes Living TV Likes the Mornings

There are morning people and night people. Then there are those who function better in the middle of the day. Forbes Living TV likes the morning as the best time of day to get things done.

There is nothing like the bright and refreshing sun to wake up the body, mind and spirit. The light signals the brain to stop producing melatonin, which in turn wakes us up and makes us more alert.  It also warms up our body temps which helps us feel more awake and ready to take on the day’s challenges.

Morning is also the best time to step on the scale. We lose about three pounds of water overnight from sweat and visiting the bathroom.  For the most pleasing results, weigh in before eating and about a half an hour after waking up.

For optimal work results, have healthy, protein and fiber-rich breakfast from 30 to 60 minutes after waking.  This kick-starts the metabolism to work steadily all day.

Mid-morning and afternoon people are those who are energized to make it through the rest of the day. This is the best time to give a presentation, lecture or run a meeting.  Body temperatures peak and so does mental energy.  Grab some lunch around noon but be sure to have some protein (for afternoon stamina), fiber (to feel full) and something tasty.

The Forbes Living TV show believes that the hours before noon are best for optimal results at work. Of course, if it’s dark outside when the alarm goes off and the drive to work is done in darkness, it may take longer to feel alert. Pour your favorite morning beverage in a commuter cup and heat up a frozen breakfast sandwich to power down on the way to the office.

Forbes Living Shares the Financial Resolutions We All Need to Make

The New Year is in its infancy and there is no better time than now to jump on the resolution bandwagon. Forbes Living offers some suggestions for making 2015 the year of personal finance success.

A survey conducted by Fidelity Investments found that those who made financial resolutions at the start of 2014 felt they were better off financially than those who did not. Let that be a good start point for the following resolutions:

Resolve to review financial statements every month. Whether you do this online or with the paper documents sent in the mail, it makes sense to comb through the line items. You may just find some fees which have been added which were not there.

Resolve to save more for emergencies, retirement and that one special item (a great safari trip, a new car, first home, etc) There are many ways to save money each month from setting up automatic deposits to manually adding the amount to a savings account.

Resolve to pay off debt and dispose of unneeded credit cards. Forbes Living TV knows that you can live with two and maybe even three credit cards. Also, cut up and toss out store credit cards.

Resolve to bank smarter. Find a bank with better fees or no fees, use an online bank, and break up with any bank that steals your hard-earned money for their unnecessary charges.

Resolve to spend less every day. Ditch the expensive to-go coffees in the morning and make your own at home. There are an abundance of options. It is also a time-saving task since you won’t feel rushed getting to the coffee shop, waiting in line and rushing to work.

Resolve to not stray away from financial resolutions. It is very easy to be swayed by good deals, cool vacations and other things. But won’t it feel great to know that you accomplished your personal financial goals?
