Forbes Living TV on the Bond Pets and Humans Share

Any pet parent will testify that the bond they share with their four-legged child can be just as strong as one with a human child.  Forbes Living TV learns of a new study which adds validity to that statement.

Japanese researchers observed the interactions of 30 dog owners and their pets.  Canines of many different types were involved in the study, lest anyone think that one breed is more communicative than the other.  The scientists noted that when the human and the canine looked into each other’s eyes, the oxytocin surged in both. They also found that the longer we humans gaze into our dogs (and other animals) eyes, the stronger the surge of the feel good hormone.

We can also apply these new study results to people with service dogs. Service dogs are bred and trained to develop strong and powerful bonds with their owners. For people with PTS, autism and the like, the canines can sense when the person needs assistance.  The surge in oxytocin in both human and dog helps reduce anxiety. The Forbes Living talk show notes that people who bond with their pets, gaze into their eyes and connect on a deeper level, gain more than those who do not.  We are more willing to run through a fire to save the animal, and vice versa.  We feel the same connection to the pet as we would with a human child. That’s how strongly we love our pets.

Forbes Living TV Shares Tips for Affordable Weddings

Plan the wedding on the beach

It is wedding season. Anyone who has had a hand in planning a wedding can attest to how expensive it can be. Fortunately, Forbes Living TV has some tips for planning an affordable wedding.

Wedding invitations can cost a small fortune if the bride goes the traditional route. The average price of ordering invitations is $439. Most women will opt for digital invitations, or maybe a combination of paper and digital invites.  Paper invitations are nice and are great keepsakes. So maybe order those for the older guests and go online for the others to save some cash.

The wedding dress is a major expense and one that many women are finding hard to choose. The wedding dress or gown is worn for one day and then put in storage. Instead of spending a couple hundred or thousand bucks on this, look into renting one. Other choices are to borrow one from a friend or relative or buy one at a consignment shop.

The wedding reception is the most expensive part of getting married. Find creative ways to make it is less pricey such as having a cocktail and appetizer party instead of a sit down or buffet meal. Buy your own china for the reception, but be sure to wash it at home in the dishwasher before taking to the reception hall. Use good quality silk flowers instead of fresh ones on tables and ask décor. Another option is to host the wedding on the beach or in a city or state park.

The Forbes Living TV show suggests talking to both sets of parents to determine what priorities are most important. Then, a reasonable budget can be set for the day when lives are joined in love and matrimony.

Forbes Living Reveals How the Moon Affects Us

La Luna as the Moon is often referred to can bring people together, make people go a little crazy and induce birth. Forbes Living offers a few more ways a Super Moon can affect us.

A study from Japan tracked 1,000 births in women who had not been induced. They found more babies were born the closer the Super Moon was to Earth, when the gravitational pull was the greatest. A full moon had no effect.

A Super Moon can mess up a good night’s sleep. A study tracked the sleep patterns of participants in a sleep lap where they had no access to clocks or see outside light. They woke and slept on a normal basis. The data collected found that in the four days before and after a full moon, it took the test subjects longer to fall asleep, they slept less and didn’t fall into a deep sleep. They also had less melatonin, which helps us fall asleep.

ForbesLiving learns that a full moon can affect surgeries too. Patients who had heart surgeries spent less time in the hospital when their surgery occurred when there was full moon. They were also less likely to pass on from the surgery.

A full moon and a Super Moon are beautiful, natural events in the sky. Take time to go outside and appreciate the magnificence of one. Take your love with you. But remember that the word lunatic is derived from the latin word luna.
